What Goes In Your Media Kit?

First let's assume your media kit is electronic i.e. on your author website (If you don't have a website, you should strongly consider getting one) and you're contemplating a media resources section or a "press room". What should you have there? What are the key things you need? Here's what we recommend:

  1. Downloadable Cover Art
  2. Author Bio
  3. Fact Sheet or Sell Sheet - states the facts about the book (title, author, publisher, number of pages, ISBN, pub. date, and price), ordering information, and has a brief synopsis of the book
  4. Book Milestones - Awards, accolades, book clubs, sales numbers, or anything that highlights a notable success
  5. FAQs
  6. News Release
  7. Pitches or "News Pegs" - provide possible "angles" or "hooks" for a story
  8. Book Testimonials and/or Endorsements
  9. Table of Contents
  10. Sample Chapter
  11. Interview Clips
  12. Media Articles
  13. Contact Information/Email
